The Climate Kick-Start is back
This year’s programme will empower young people to help tackle the climate and ecological emergencies and air pollution, through practical, positive action, and by encouraging students into green careers.
A week of career-focused activities will take place from 7 to 11 November 2022, coinciding with the first week of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt.
We’re inviting all secondary schools and alternative education providers in Greater London to take part. There are prizes of £10,000, plus free careers events and free resources available.
The programme is run with partners Let’s Go Zero 2030 and Bloomberg, along with support from the London Schools Climate Summit.
Last year, over 66,000 secondary students from across London took part during the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26). Watch the highlights film from the 2021 Climate Kick-Start below.

On Friday 5 November 2021, the Mayor announced the winners of the first ever Climate Kick-Start Prize - five London secondary schools who will pioneer forward-thinking environmental projects to engage young Londoners in climate action.

Last year's Climate Kick-Start Prizegiving was hosted by TV presenter, Paralympian and climate activist, Ade Adepitan MBE.
Prizes at the event were presented by celebrity climate ambassadors, including BBC Radio 1’s Vick Hope, Olympic BMX champion Beth Schriever, vegan cook and vlogger Rachel Ama, BAFTA winning TV presenter Mehreen Baig and ‘The White Queen’ and ‘Victoria’ actor David Oakes.
